GHASSAN (*)

A GIFT

a gift to every sibling,
who was watching Beirut,
to know that our blood,
is no more of his...

a gift to every friend,
to display at home,
and witness
what his friendship did to us...

a gift to every ennemy,
to know that if one of us falls,
there will be always someone
to carry him and continue...

a gift from a city of ruines
to a blinded world,
a deaf history,
and nations without soul...

(*Ghassan Khoury, my cousin, died at age of 12, with 23 other kids, in the shelter of a building called "Akar Building" by a single israeli vacuum bom, at the end of Beirut siege 1982).
